It was a chilly Sunday morning and the team was up before dawn to make their way down to the ON TAP water station for the Maritzburg Marathon. Alarms were set for 3am, and we dragged our warm bodies out of comfortable beds to show our support for the brave men and women that chose to take on this gruelling marathon. Both the PMB store and head office joined in, they even dragged their children, partners and siblings along – now that’s dedication! 5 am rolled in and the race was due to start, frantically led by Brigitte Rothman, the tables were set and all the drinks were poured (non-alcoholic sadly), snacks were plated, bins set up within a 200m radius of the water stand and an assortment of toiletries were laid out.

The race has become the most popular marathon and half marathon in KZN for its generously achievable cut off times and its ability to cater for both runners and walkers. The run is also a qualifier for the Comrades Marathon which is set to take place this year on 31 May 2015. It is an exciting taste of greater things to come. A true exhibition of not only comradery but the sheer power of the human mind and body.

The team had a lot of fun manning the water station but also worked incredibly hard to ensure that it was clean at all times, thus winning them a fantastic plaque for the best water station! On Tap showed their team spirit working as a well-oiled machine, and their leader JohnBecker exemplified this by cutting short his vacation down on the coast to be in the front lines with his troops! With the hard work and backbreaking bending came a scrumptious breakfast of bacon and egg rolls and coffee. The team did a fantastic job earning themselves a beautiful plaque for best water table! Thank you to each member of the on tap PMB store and the head office for your contribution in sweat, tears and blood (Thanks Janet for that one!), it did not go unnoticed! Continue to fly that on tap flag high guys!
